Dyslexia and Speech Therapy South is run by Dana. I have over 10 years experience working both for the NHS and with the Dyslexia Centre in London, see below for my full CV. I offer a range of services including free e-mail advice, assessment and therapy for both adults and children.

I am experienced in working with children with Dyslexia, dyscalculia, literacy difficulties, Developmental Language Disorder(DLD)/Specific Language Impairment (SLI), language delay, Speech Sound Disorders including articulation disorders, dysarthria and apraxia-of-speech and with people with learning disabilities.

Work Experience

  • 2012 - Current: Speech and language therapist and dyslexia tutor (independent practice) – Assessment and intervention for children and adults with a range of speech, language and swallowing impairments. Specialist tutoring to children with speech, language and literacy difficulties. Throughout this time I worked with the Dyslexia Centre, Wadeson Street, London alongside their Educational Psychologist offering in-depth SLT assessments and reports, often as a second opinion or to support applications for EHC plans.

  • 2018 - 2020: Speech and language therapist (NHS - Sussex). Working within a general community speech and language therapy team. Assessment and management of people with communication and swallowing impairments secondary to a range of general health and neurological impairments.

  • 2017-2018: Speech and language therapist (NHS - Redhill). Working in a community team for people with learning disabilities. Supporting both children and adults within their homes and residential settings to support communication and implement behaviour management strategies, along with management of swallowing disorders.

  • 2017 - 2018: (NHS - Redhill). I worked as part of a specialist multi-disciplinary team within the national service for foetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD) providing a thorough speech and language therapy assessment and report to support diagnosis.

  • 2016 – 2017: Speech and language therapist (NHS – East Sussex). Working within Acute Hospital Services and a community speech and language therapy team. Assessment and management of people with communication and swallowing impairments secondary to a range of general health and neurological impairments.

  • 2012 – 2015: Speech and language therapist (NHS - Surrey). Working across several teams including: Community Neurological Rehabilitation Team; Early Supported Discharge Team (Stroke); Inpatient Rehabilitation Team; general community speech and language therapy team; general inpatient rehab speech and language therapy service; Community Mental Health Team for older people; Inpatient Mental Health team for older people. Assessment and management of people with communication and swallowing impairments.

  • 2012: Speech and language therapist; Language unit within a mainstream school. Supporting children with Statements of Special Educational Needs (now EHC plans). Involved in the assessment and management of children within a specialist classroom setting. Involved in supporting them to integrate within the mainstream school.
